Shelter Animals Rescue Group

Our organization is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit, formed in 1996 to help save adoptable dogs and cats from euthanization at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. We specialize in mixed breeds. Our shelter is often filled with very adoptable animals that must die because of space limitations, and we are devoted to giving a second chance to as many as we can. We house our animals in foster homes or boarding kennels for as long as it takes to find them permanent homes. We participate in numerous community events to promote our animals and the concept of adoption/rescue.

Meet Aboo

Aboo is a 3-year-old, spayed female pug. She was originally adopted from SARG in June, 2016, but sadly, things haven't worked out. While Aboo is a very bright, loving, playful, and goofy dog, she can also be a bit of a handful. She is an alpha dog, and would probably do best in a household with no other dogs or with very laid-back dogs. Also, she has some resource-guarding issues, so a home with no small children would be best. She successfully completed beginner obedience class at the Oak Ridge Kennel Club, and her instructor said she would make a great little agility dog. Unfortunately, the agility class filled up before she got a chance to try it. She has no major medical issues and is up to date on heartworm, flea/tick prevention, and vaccines. If her next family can put in the time and attention required for her behavioral issues, they will be rewarded with a fun-loving companion for many more years. She will come with a "How to Aboo" handbook and free pet-sitting.

Adoption Process
Application form, phone or personal interview, home visit, vet and personal references, adoption fee $125 dogs / $85 cats. Contract specifying that animals must be primarily indoor pets, dogs leashed or fenced; no declawing of cats, and that they cannot be passed on to others but must be returned to SARG if given up for any reason.
