Dakota Dachshund Rescue

Diane started doing fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and then Pet Pals for Life. She had a passion for dachshunds. We noticed that the Sioux Falls area had a need for a dachshund rescue so her and I (Doug) started DDR. The response and need was much greater than we anticipated.

Meet Rory

Rory is doing well  He continues to have some seizure activity  He now eats Annamaet Sustan and will need to continue doing so  It has not increased seizure activity and his stools are solid  He relies a lot on his sister Erin  He will not do well going out in public as that increases seizure activity  He is on seizure meds and will need to continue that  His meds must be given on time  If you have questions please contact DDR and visit with his foster mom   We are a foster home based rescue. Please fill out the online adoption application by clicking on Adoption Info under the Navigation bar on the left side of the page. Fill out the online form by clicking on the picture of the computer screen with our logo on it.Rory came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue as he has some medical issue. We will update once Dr Paul decides what diagnostics little man Rory needs.Rory needs some special friends to sponsor him while we figure out what is going on with him. We are finding that low dose Keppra as well as a keto diet which is low carb is helping ward off the episodes he was having. Rory is 6 months old, he weighs 5.6 pounds, his adoption fee will be $400 + sales tax $18=$18

Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
