Dakota Dachshund Rescue

Diane started doing fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and then Pet Pals for Life. She had a passion for dachshunds. We noticed that the Sioux Falls area had a need for a dachshund rescue so her and I (Doug) started DDR. The response and need was much greater than we anticipated.

Meet Charlotte

Hi! I'm Charlotte. I am a very sweet recent breeder release girl looking for a furever home of my own. I am just beginning my journey to live life as a house pet, learning about house training, playing in a fenced yard, wearing a harness and walking on a leash. I do not know to come when called, I am shy. I do require a fenced yard to keep me safe, I do not know the dangers of roads and cars. I am 6 yrs old, I weigh _____, my adoption fee is $350 plus sales tax $15.75=$365.75My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, spay and dental.

Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
