Joey

Dakota Dachshund Rescue

Diane started doing fostering at the Sioux Falls Humane Society and then Pet Pals for Life. She had a passion for dachshunds. We noticed that the Sioux Falls area had a need for a dachshund rescue so her and I (Doug) started DDR. The response and need was much greater than we anticipated.

Meet Joey

We are an all-volunteer/foster home-based rescue.Apply to adopt by filling out the online adoption application on our main website dakotadachshundrescue.orgClick on Adoption Info under the Navigation bar on the left side of the page. Fill out the form by clicking on the picture of the computer screen with our logo on it.Joey is a very handsome sweet boy, he is a little reseved at first. Once he gets to know you his tail just never stops wagging. He is working hard on his house manners. He does great with all the other foster dogs. His foster mom says he will be a snuggler once he gets a little more settled. Joey does require a fenced yard as he does not walk on a leash.  Joey is about 3 years old and weighs about 18 pounds. His adoption fee is $400 plus tax of $18 fir a total of $418.  My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter and dental.

Adoption Process
Usually we are contacted by a SD shelter about a dachshund that is not doing well (nipping etc.) and that they are going to be put down. We take them in get them vetted and then place them up for adoption after they have been evaluated. We also take calls from folks who have called their local shelter about there dachshund that may have started nipping at small children etc and are told the dog would be put down. We also take calls from other rescues about breeder dogs.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
