Meet Zarah

Zarah is about five years old and appears to be an American Bulldog mix. I was pleasantly surprised when I met her as I thought she was more of an Olde English bulldog size – nope, she’s a bit taller, and well-built. She LOVES to "sit" though, and she hunches when she does so you really need to meet her in person to get the visual. She has the cutest freckles on her soft white coat, the underbite you would expect of an American Bulldog type of gal, and when she smiles, well … it’s pretty adorable! Peep the comments and see for yourself! When her foster mom rolled up with three little dogs in tow, I was also surprised since I had previously heard Zarah was dog selective, so we talked about that for a bit. And then I asked her to bring one of the car dogs in as a “photo prop” so you, good readers, can see that Zarah can co-exist with other dogs; she just needs a little warm-up time. This is NOT UNCOMMMON, folks! So many dogs prefer to observe and get comfortable with their canine friends before they commit to the relationship, but once they do, they’re all in. Don’t rule out adding a fun companion simply because they ask for a bit of a slow introduction. Zarah is, in fact CAT, GOAT, HORSE, CHICKEN and DUCK APPROVED too. She is in foster on a farm so has been completely checked out and passed with flying colors. Same for kids – she’s great with kids! She’s about 65 pounds though so little ones may get knocked over during play - school aged and up is probably the way to go. Foster mom reports that Zarah has never met a human stranger and I believe that. She was warm and friendly when we met, and she continued to show me that sweetness throughout her session. She knows some commands and she did all that we asked of her so you could see her personality. She didn’t need treats for pay, so she only got a couple, and those she took with a very gentle mouth. I didn’t even want to include any serious-faced photos here, but I will, in the comments (maybe one ). To me, she seemed weighted more to the silly side, like she would be a fun friend to have! And when we flower-crowned her, she was definitely giving Frida Kahlo vibes so if you are an art lover, look no further. Zarah has nice leash manners and rides well in the car. Word on the streets is she’s kinda lazy too so not a big exercise requirement for her new humans. She is house trained and crate trained, healthy, UTD on vaccines and spayed. My biggest takeaway though is that she’s a sweet dog deserving of a family to call her own. Her foster mom specifically pulled *her* from the shelter and has gotten her to this amazing point – now it’s time to hand over the keys to a forever family. She's spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and prevention and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $200.
