Meet Patch
Patch is a 1.5-year-old black and white hound mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality! He entered the Sheriff’s Office Trustee Program at the McCormick County Detention Center in April 2025 and proudly graduated in August. During his months of training, Patch worked one-on-one with his Trustee and a team member from HSMC. This hands-on attention has given Patch a strong foundation in obedience and manners. He knows his cues, walks beautifully on a lead, and is eager to please. Patch loves going for walks, chasing balls (though he hasn’t quite mastered bringing them back yet), and soaking up attention. His favorite thing? Full body rubs, belly scratches, and giving kisses. He’s affectionate, playful, and happiest when spending time with his people. Because of his specialized training, Patch responds best to confident handling, clear commands, and consistency. He was not trained with treats but instead with strong voice cues, hand signals, and leash guidance. He naturally heels to your right side and will happily zoom the yard when given the go-ahead. Patch is ready to bring his loyalty, training, and love into a forever home. Patch might just be your perfect match. *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption at the Humane Society of McCormick County is SC for an adoption fee. All of our dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. To adopt, contact 864-391-2349 or [email protected]. We are an all-volunteer 501c3 organization. To learn more, visit www.hsmcsc.org.
Adoption Process
Our adoption process starts with an interview. We want to know what type of cat or dog they are looking for, their lifestyle, and their expectations. Then we set up a meet and greet either at the shelter, a pet store, or at their home. Then they fill out an adoption contract. We offer and encourage potential adopters to take the dog or cat home on foster-to-adopt for a few weeks before finalizing the adoption. Our adoption fee is $65 for cats and $125 for dogs which included spay or neuter and vaccinations and for dogs, it includes a microchip. Cats can be microchipped upon request.
