Meet Porter
Porter is around 14 mos old. He was found and taken in by the owners and though he struggles to leave his scavenging ways behind when he’s outside, he doesn’t dig in garbage or counter surf. He will lie down during human meals. He’s on the anxious side, they say. Can get startled by loud noises like traffic or things around the house, like opening new garbage bags. He’s got some issues with resource-guarding. He can get excited to play and play nip. They’ve been working with him to stop it. He can get overwhelmed by large groups of dogs and will cower. He’s made huge amounts of progress since they found him and gets better every day. He’s a fast learner. He’s so smart, playful and very affectionate with his people. He loves off-leash walks through the woods. Or being a mountain biking wingman. He likes keep away and chew sticks. Mental stimulation and regular exercise are important, especially for his breed. He is happiest and at his best when he has routine and clear boundaries. They know he will be a wonderful, devoted canine partner to someone. They both work too much and travel. Porter doesn’t board particularly well and they realize he would have the most benefit from a more stable home than their own. They’ve had him neutered and gotten him his shots while teaching him to live in civilization, they say. If you’re interested in meeting/adopting Porter, fill out an application at sccpets.com. If approved, we’ll put you in touch with the owner. His adoption fee is $200.
