Friends of the Shelter Foundation

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding homes for pets in rural Oklahoma animal shelters through adoption events and fundraisers. We're focused on the Newcastle animal shelter since that's where we're based, but we also pull from other rural shelters when we can. We have adoption events and fundraisers year round. Please visit our website to see where we'll be next on our calendar!

Meet Gavin

*WE'RE A FOSTER-BASED RESCUE, NOT A SHELTER* Please read his bio entirely: Gavin, the sweetest grizzly bear ever was, was unfortunately hit by a car on New Years Eve 2023, and wound up at the Tulsa animal shelter. He's already had 2 major orthopedic surgeries to repair his fractured femur (left rear leg) and right rear knee. But you'd never know this guy was even injured! He is the most gentle, easy going boy and deserves this second chance at a good life! He'll be ready for his furever home around mid-February. If you'd like to make Gavin part of your family, please submit an adoption application on our website https://shelterfriends.org/adoption-application/ His adoption fee is $200 and includes both surgeries, neuter, vaccines, deworming, heartworm treatment (he's positive for it right now) and microchip.

Adoption Process
Everyone must complete an adoption application first. Once approved they can meet the dog/s they're interested in. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, dewormed, on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. Our adoption fees are $100 for puppies under a year old and $75 for dogs over a year old.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
