Hi there! My name is Smokey Bones and my foster mom is searching for the perfect home for me!! Where are all you adventure-seeking, fun-loving, activity-driven tiny terrier fans?? I’m a Miniature Schnauzer mix with just enough of that terrier tenacity to keep you laughing and on your toes!! I must admit I’m a chewer. The more to chew, the better. Now, I bet you’re thinking, “he’ll chew everything”…and you are kinda right. But my foster mom makes sure I have plenty of appropriate things to chew so I don’t grab her slippers. I really like people and other dogs. I get a little silly when meeting new people and sometimes jump around. I’ve lived with a cat, but he didn’t appreciate me chasing him around. I don’t bark much; and for a Miniature Schnauzer mix, that’s pretty impressive! Oh, did I mention I’m very smart! I know all these commands: sit, down [lie down on floor], paw [to shake], other [to shake the other paw], off, quiet, sit-n-wait [for dinner], no jump, no bite and no. And I’m learning how to ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, ‘come’ and others. I love to chase after leaves blowing in the wind, ants crawling around, bugs flying in the air. Actually, I love to chase anything that moves! My foster mom says I sometimes get ‘selective hearing’ and don’t come when called, especially when something super cool gets my attention. But hey…don’t we all have a few flaws?? Now for the all-important question—am I housetrained?? Well; that’s a yes and a no. Let me first say I am working very hard on this AND making progress! The problem has to do with some value in my urine called Specific Gravity. It is really low and my urine very dilute…whatever that means. So…I tend to pee a lot. I guess more than most dogs, but let me stress again…I am working very hard on letting my foster mom know I have to go potty. I keep my crate super clean when I’m in it and don’t mind sleeping there all night. My foster mom keeps a diaper on me in the house [yes; it’s embarrassing] and that really helps keep things clean and tidy in the home….if you know what I mean. Eventually, I won't need one anymore...woo hoo!! The doggie doctor advised my foster mom to keep me on a low protein diet which seems to be helping. Plus my foster mom keeps a pretty strict schedule so that helps a lot too! Please don’t let my ‘issue’ keep you from wanting me. I know you would need to be patient with me, but I promise you all the puppy kisses you could ever imagine. And because I’m so smart, you could teach me more tricks. I may even excel in agility training if you would teach me. So what do you say....??? Smokey Bones is UTD on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
