ATTENTION! Those who love energetic puppies and love puppy kisses, ones looking to add a new four-legged pup to their family. My name is Sophia de Mayo and I'm available for adoption...but only for a limited time...so make sure you ACT FAST! As you can guess by my name, I arrived at my foster's house on Cinco de Mayo. You see, I ended up in a puppy jail after my family decided they didn't want me anymore. Luckily Adopt a Pit broke me out, but now I need your help. Do you think you can help me find my furever family? Do you know someone who is looking for a four month old puppy that's about 20 lbs? One that's energetic and loves to give kisses? Or get belly rubs? If you do, I'm that girl! I'm working really hard on my puppy manners so I can impress my new family. I do pretty well with going potty outside, I'm learning how to walk on a leash, and I'm trying my best to get used to my crate. That last one is the hardest one though. I am also trying to learn my manners when playing with my furry foster friends. The cat in the house seems interesting but her face is mean, so I sniff then I try to keep my distance. My furless foster momma is trying to help me with all these manners, she's figuring out all the tricks, and bribes me with good treats. Pb, food and any kind of treats help me pay attention a whole lot more. I love them all! I am trying my best, and my furless foster mom says I'm doing a great job! So, if you know someone who might love me furever and ever, will you let me know? I promise I will love them everyday, furever! Love, Sophia de Mayo
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
