Meet Gus

A Fenced yard is a must. Please meet this special sheltie pup named Gus. Gus is loving and curious. Unfortunately, he comes from a situation where he was x-penned for most of the day with little to no interaction. Puppies need lots of interactions and socialization. In a real sense, Gus, at almost 1 year, is just now experiencing puppyhood.  Gus loves to cuddle with his foster mom but also loves to play. The perfect mix! His foster mom boasts he’s just learned to play fetch. He already knows several basic commands and is house trained. She has left him in a crate for up to two hours when no one is home and he has been fine. Gus is curious about her cats, but the cats are training him on what’s acceptable. Gus does have a bit of a herding instinct with her small dogs; but again, he’s learning quickly.   Gus is anxious but slowly learning to trust. On his first day, he hid under a table. He’s already gotten past that with his foster mom’s tender loving care. His forever family will need to be patient and preferably not a chaotic environment for him. Despite the anxieties in new situations, Gus loves to explore his yard, so a fenced-in yard is a must. This is especially true, as so far he does not want to be on a leash and expresses his displeasure by “bucking.” However, Gus is treat motivated and is eager to learn. With more time and patience, he will undoubtedly learn so much more. This sweet sheltie will let you know he wants to be petted by irresistably putting his nose under your hand repeatedly to get the pets he craves from his human. Gus has so much love and affection to give, and he’s eagerly awaiting settling into his forever home, so he can become the confident little sheltie boy he was born to be.
