Meet Howard the Hyper Pug

Meet Howard the HYPER pug. Howard is 4 years old, a very trim 22lbs and he is ready to GO! Go where? ANYwhere! Howard looks deceptively calm in pictures. He is NOT. Don't let that handsome squishy face fool you (we blame Instagram and LouLou). When he's not raiding the toy box or tormenting ….umm, PLAYING….with his foster siblings, then he's waiting expectantly for you to let him explore the yard or take him for a walk. (He has actually been wonderful at playing with all the other foster pups and there's quite a few!) Occasionally, he naps. (We try not to move during those times.) Howard is very sweet and LOVES his humans. He will show this by flopping his 22 pound seal body on top of you (that's a lot of pug!), bathing whatever parts he can reach with kisses and nibbles, before launching himself (using your stomach as a springboard) back into whatever mayhem he can find or create…Despite Howard's enthusiasm for life, he has not been destructive at all in his foster home (yeah, we were surprised too). But an important thing to know about Howard is that he is NOT social. Shocking for a pug, we know, but there you have it. He's protective of his fam and takes 'stranger danger' quite seriously, especially on his own turf.  Basically, if you’re not part of his inner circle, protect your ankles (not kidding)! But once you're in, you've got a loyal buddy for life and a personal hit man for anyone you don't care for (this time we are kidding. sort of). Howard is housebroken and rides in the car well. His leash walking is….energetic… but pretty good after he gets some of his wiggles out. He considers himself a foodie in that he will never turn down anything remotely edible (and fully expects you to share your meals), but needs someone who has the steely cold heart to keep him at his healthiest weight and not overdo the treats. As with most pugs, Howard suffers from a condition called 'selective hearing' that magically improves when there's something in it for him. He will sit pretty for mealtimes or a treat (if he must) and rings his potty bells when he wants to go out (which is often). He'd love for his new home to come with a doggie door and a similar-size furry playmate for him to pal around with! Think you might be match for Howard's energy? Submit a non-obligatory application through the Paws & Prayers website today! Howard's adoption fee is $400, which includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. Vet bloodwork was completed and he appears to be a healthy boy. Pug breeds require quite a bit of care, so potential adopters need to be prepared. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website  www.pawsandprayers.org     ***IMPORTANT: Inquiries submitted through Petfinder or other third-party websites DO NOT submit as applications in our database. Current/previous veterinarians NEED PERMISSION to speak with us; if we are not able to speak with them, we cannot complete the review of your application.**

Adoption Process
Adoption fees range from $150-$350. Non-negotiable. An applications at www.pawsandprayers.org must be filled out and approved before a meet and greet can be set up.
