Meet Cassiterite: Everyone call me Cassie though. I have this cool, funky name that my foster momma gave me which is actually a type of beautiful, shiny, black crystal. She told me my gorgeous coat reminded her of it! Now- let’s talk about me- you already know I am easy on the eyes, adorable pointy ear, we’ll of of them at least! I am a goofy, bouncy love bug that wrapped up into a German Shepherd and border collie like body! I am lengthy and stealthy, I love a good romp the yard with my foster sibs and I’ll take all the toys you can give! Being made from the two intelligent breeds that I am, I learn very quickly, I am eager to please and I need quite a bit of attention to keep my busy little mind, busy! I am about 5 months old and found myself at a southern, rural shelter with no family in sight- until this pretty great rescue snatched me up and gave me a place to crash. I’m learning house manners, manners around my doggie friends and I’m loving the human kids in my house. They like to play ball with me! So now, I just need my own place to call home!
Adoption Process
Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
