The Rescue Crew, Inc

We are a new organization being established by experienced rescue people and individuals with broad relationships and a network with local animal shelters/impounds and vet clinics. Collectively in our Board's experience we have temperament tested, pulled from euthanasia lists from local shelters/impounds and place in appropriate and proper foster/adoptive homes well over 500 animals during our rescue careers. We are starting The Rescue Crew to focus primarily on the local, most urgent, animals in need of rescue commitment to avoid imminent euthanasia. The Rescue Crew is educational and charitable in that we instruct, train and raise awareness amongst the public and potential fosters/adopters about the importance of animal rescue and safety. This includes: 1). educating the public about general care, appropriate healthy nutrition, spay/neuter, normal temperament and routine behavior patterns of companion animals; and 2). provide educational materials and research-based information to the community and conducting public events, adoption clinics, information booths, and other public events in order to help end pet overpopulation and save companion animals' lives. We are charitable by the reducing the burden of government and prevent cruelty to animals by 1). providing rescue, shelter, food and veterinary care for companion animals in situations that are abusive, endangering, or neglectful; 2). to help end pet overpopulation by supporting spay/neuter efforts; and 3). to prevent animal homelessness by filing companion animals in need loving forever homes.

Meet Champ

Champ is a handsome 75-pound Doberman Pinscher/ Staffordshire Terrier and sweet Ladies Man looking for a gal to call his own.   Champ ensures he stays in shape on the regular. His long legs make him a solid runner, who enjoys trail runs, especially bounding through the winter snow. Other times, he shows off by playing fetch by himself (throwing the toy then retrieving it). He is even a great muscle building partner, engaging his gal in a flirtatious game of tug of war.   After a suitable exercise session, Champ will engage in good dental hygiene by enjoying a chew toy by the fire or a well-deserved Kong cocktail of peanut butter and milkbone. He takes some time to approach new people on his own terms, but once comfortable is very loving. Champ adores bedtime snuggles with his lady (he enjoys being the big spoon) to warm the other side of the bed.    Champ would do best in a home without shared walls (such as an apartment or townhome), as he takes it upon himself to be your protector, and will bark at passers by. Champ has no problem with other dogs, but swipes left on cats or other small creatures. He has not yet been around young children, but due to his size, he may knock over small children in his playful exuberance, so older children (middle school or above) would be a better fit.   In terms of adults, Champ will need to be surrounded solely by adult women,  in a home with limited interaction from men. He doesn’t like the competition for affection, and likely came from a situation of prior abuse by a male.  This boy would also benefit from a home with previous bully-breed experience, and confident, strong guiding leadership.   Not only is Champ tall, muscular and handsome, but also is no slouch when it comes to smarts. Champ has learned “sit”, “shake” and “drop” during his time in foster care, and would love to learn more from his special lady. Champ also has impeccable manners that you’d be glad to take out on the town, his leash in your arm.   Champ is a sweet and playful gentleman looking for the perfect lady to be his exercise partner, snuggle bug, and evening date. If you are the one to fit the bill, send an application to his foster, and they will set up a first date.   The most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org.  You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Thank you.

Adoption Process
Adoption applications must be completed, which include information regarding references and vet clinic information, DL #, names, etc. Reference checks are conducted and when necessary vetting information verified. Discussion about the animal interested in to best assure appropriate and proper placement is made, and educational information regarding how to manage a multi-dog/animal household, slow and proper introductions and the importance of a shut-down period to help the animal acclimate to new surroundings. A "meet and greet" with the animal is required and whenever possible all residents of the household should be present. Home checks may, but not always, be necessary. After adoption applications is approved a contract is required, where we also stipulate that if for any reason the adopter determines they no longer want or can care for the animal we require it be returned to us, with the exception of documented bite history or potentially dangerous or dangerous dog designations. Adoption fees vary, but are comparable to or less than other local rescues and typically are $300 or less for a canine and $150 for a feline.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
