Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

Meet Akira

Meet Akira, a gorgeous 2-year-old Husky with a happy heart and a wagging tail just waiting to meet her forever family! Weighing in at 57 pounds, Akira is housetrained, crate trained, and ready to be your loyal adventure buddy. She’s also spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), microchipped, and up to date on flea and heartworm prevention—completely prepped for her next chapter! Akira is friendly with other dogs and would love a canine companion to share her days with—she just asks for a proper introduction to ensure it's a great match. She cannot live with cats, so a feline-free home is a must. With her playful spirit, stunning looks, and sweet nature, Akira is sure to brighten every room she walks into. If you're looking for a loving, social, and joyful pup to complete your pack, Akira might just be the perfect fit. Ready to give this sweet girl the home she deserves? She’s ready to meet you! Apply online at ahhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ or email [email protected] with any questions!
