Meet Benji

Meet Benji – A Resilient Little Yorkie With a Heart Full of Love Benji is a 5-pound Yorkshire Terrier who’s had a rough start in life. Found abandoned in a wet cardboard box outside a shelter, he came to us with only three legs – one of which was badly broken. But despite it all, Benji is nothing short of a little miracle. Benji’s Best Qualities:  Sweet, gentle, and gives the softest kisses Makes the most hilarious little sounds – his alert “bark” is a squeaky hiccup! NOT the stereotype of a “yappy” little dog.  Sleeps peacefully in his crate overnight (just a short protest at first) Gets along beautifully with other dogs – currently fostered with a Doberman and a Shih Tzu! LOVES cuddles – he melts into your lap for comfort A Few Special Needs:Benji isn’t just looking for a home. He’s looking for someone who sees his soul, not just his challenges. He’s brave, loving, and more than ready to start the next chapter of his life – with you.Are you the one to show Benji that he’s finally home? Uses a harness to assist for potty breaks during recovery and learning to walk again.   Has follow-up appointments scheduled post-surgery – we’ll help guide you through the next steps Calm, slower paced household.  Benji is very tiny and his risk of injury is higher.

Adoption Process
Once we receive your application an adoption counselor will take a look and reach out with any questions. The team will check personal, vet references and check with your landlord if applicable. Your adoption counselor will then set up a time to talk with you and your family (or anyone else involved in the adoption process in your home). This call is a good time to ask any questions you have. Once your application is approved, you will be connected with the foster of the PIP(s) you are interested in. From start to finish, this process can take anywhere from a few days to over a week (so please be patient!). If everything goes well and you and the foster agree that the PIP you want to adopt is a good fit, we will then finalize the adoption. Adoption fees are $325 for adults and $375 for puppies. All dogs will be up to date on age appropriate vaccines and spayed / neutered if old enough. If not old enough adopters can come back to our vet to have it covered in fee. It must be done by the time the dog is 6 months old.
