Meet Sammy

Sammy is a loving 4-year-old Havanese-Yorkie mix who weighs 12 lbs. If you are looking for an engaging, spunky walking partner, Sammy's your guy. Sammy has most of the Havanese Traits: devotion to his owners, forms a strong bond with his family, eager to please, curious, intelligent, sensitive, and an alert watchdog with a touch of a stubborn streak and a surprising level of athleticism.   Sammy gets along well with the dogs in his foster home. He could be an only dog or have another small dog in the home who weighs under 16 lbs. Sammy thrives on human companionship and craves affection and cuddling.  He sleeps in the bed with his foster parents and would not have it any other way. Sammy's hair is cut short but will grow long, so he will need to be groomed regularly and brushed out weekly. He has beautiful amber colored eyes that feel like they are peering into your soul.   Sammy is doing well with housetraining, but at the same time, will need someone with patience to help him continue to be successful. Sammy is leash trained and gets really excited about going on walks.  The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact [email protected]. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD.  This allows Sammy the opportunity to play safely supervised in his own yard, helps with housetraining, and most importantly it is an added layer of safety.  Sammy is quick to dart out the door and is a curious guy, so the fenced yard is a must. The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 2 inches and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500
