Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Oscar

*Meet Oscar* Y’all know the song - and he's no bologna! Looking for a furry friend full of boundless energy and endless love? Look no further, because Oscar is here to steal your heart! At just 4 months old and 35 pounds, this adorable German Shepherd pup is bursting with spunk and personality. Oscar is the ultimate goofball - always ready for a game of fetch, a romp in the park, or a silly belly rub session. His friendly nature and wagging tail make him the life of the party wherever he goes. Oscar is always ready to make new friends with both people and other dogs! He hasn’t met kids or cats yet, but with his young age and friendly personality he should be fine with them. He doesn’t require a fence right now because he sticks close to his foster parents and fur siblings. Oscar is a sweetheart who loves nothing more than snuggling up with his favorite humans after a day of fun.  Oscar is learning to be the perfect house guest and has almost mastered it. He is both house and crate trained. He will let you know when he needs to go out by singing a lovely tune for you. He is still learning the difference between toys and other interesting items so better keep your shoes in the closet out of his reach. With continued training Oscar will no doubt master the art of living indoors. If you're ready to welcome a bundle of joy into your life, Oscar is waiting for you! Come meet this lovable pup and give him the forever home he deserves. If you think he would be a great addition to your family, reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . Oscar is being fostered near Wilmington.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
