CrisisDogsNC

CrisisDogsNC is a foster-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit founded in 2017 by journalist and author Judith Reitman Texier whose investigative articles garnered international awards and prompted changes in animal welfare laws. She created the Organization in response to North Carolina’s euthanasia rate which is among the highest in the country and to many of its shelters’ methods of euthanasia that are so inhumane they are outlawed in most other states. We rescue dogs from kill shelters, substandard backyard breeders, hoarders, and from chains. We provide full medical care, foster homes, and transport by land and air through our partnership with PilotsNPaws to fully screened and qualified adopters all along the East Coast. What distinguishes us from other rescues is our focus on the relationship between the rescued dog and the new family. By understanding your lifestyle and expectations, as well as the personalities of our rescue dogs, we can make a compatible match for a lifelong bond. We are in it for the life of the dog. At any point after adoption, if the adopter's situation changes for whatever reason, we will always accept the dog back into the rescue.

Meet Cricket

Little Cricket is ten months old and maybe four pounds. Cricket is a purebred Chihuahua. Cricket is good with other dogs, and kids ten and over or mature enough to understand they have to be gentle with Crickets teacup size.  Cricket is cute, charming, outgoing, fearless, and friendly with other dogs. Cricket is too little and fragile to play with an adopter's resident medium or large dogs that could be too rough for Crickets size. Cricket will require a calmer home. This sweet little boy loves toys, likes to be held and to snuggle. He walks well in a leash with a little harness. Cricket will potty outside and he is progressing with house training. Cricket does well in a crate for short periods of time. He prefers to go along with his human for their day-to-day activities in a purse or carrier! Apply at crisisdogsnc.org. We reply only to completed applications, no calls. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We prefer a fenced yard, but this is not required for all of our dogs. We transport by land or air whenever possible.

Adoption Process
We screen fosters and adopters. If approved for a Dog you will be required to sign a contract.
