The Animal Protection Society, Inc. (APS) of Person County is a non-profit organization functioning as a county-wide humane society that is independent of Person County government and funding. We are a group of dedicated volunteers passionate about promoting spay/neuter to reduce the pet over-population, which leads to the untimely death of so many of our beloved companions. We are also very compassionate in rescuing animals in danger, and placing them in to loving homes. We do not have a shelter. Our animals rescued are placed in to our foster program where we provide, medical care, love, and nourishment while they are waiting for their forever homes. Our objectives include the following:promote spay/neuter to reduce the overpopulation of animals, a condition that leads to the neglect, abuse, and abandonment of animals in Person Countythe placement of unwanted animals into responsible, loving homes.educate public on responsible pet ownershiprescue animals in danger of being euthanized.

Meet Arizona

Courtesy Post:   Hi, my name is Arizona and I arrived at Little Buckets Farm Sanctuary on May 23rd, 2025. I am so grateful to Little Buckets who saved me from having to be taken to a kill shelter when my mom was in a desperate plea mode, having gotten a promotion that was taking her across the USA. My Foster Mom at Little Buckets was told that my mom is a purebred doberman. And my dad is a purebred German Shepherd. I'm only 9 months old and my birthday was August 26 of last year.   I am an adorable, fun, sweet girl. I am all up-to-date on vaccines. I'm heartworm, negative & started on preventative, my poop was just tested and was negative and I just got spayed and I recovered great so I am all ready for my new forever home. I am even microchipped now.    Now that I am all ready for my new forever family, I would absolutely love to find a family with a fenced in yard because I really, really, really like to run. I probably need a 5 foot fence just in case. I will need lots of exercise not only because I'm a puppy but because I'm a German Shepherd Doberman mix and I will need lots of exercise.. I do wear out and love belly rubs and snuggling too.  I know I would be a great running or hiking partner. I love playing fetch and I bet I could learn frisbee too. I'm super smart if I don't say so myself and I love to learn. I already have the basics of sit shake and lay down. I still need a little work but I know I can get it. I'm also working on wait and I know I could learn lots more tricks if somebody was willing to just show me the ropes. I walk on the leash and just need a little work on not pulling. My Foster mom recommends no young kids as I can jump on them. I haven't been around cats but here at Little Buckets I have seen them and I am very curious as to what they are and I'll admit I might chase them so I am thinking I might be best to not have any cat friends. In terms of having dog friends,  I do bark initially at other dogs when I see them but give me a minute to calm down and I will be good with dog friends as long as someone is willing to properly introduce me. A puppy socialization class would be recommended so that I can learn a few more manners. A new family who is breed savvy is a plus. I will need a dog friend that is willing to show me how to act around each other and I will need some work on resource guarding. I don't do it all the time so I know I can learn not to have to worry about guarding stuff. Probably medium to large dog friends would be best.  I weigh 45 lbs and I have a great smile. I also have amazing fun ears that sure make me even more adorable. I will be the most loyal friend. I will have your back as I know you will have mine. I will pose for you too as I love my picture taken and my Foster mom thinks I am a dog model already. I hope you will consider meeting me. I will win your heart over I know. My Foster mom is okay with out of state adoptions if you are the perfect family for me. Please visit @littlebucketsfamsanctuary on Instagram, on their bio is a highlight circle Adopt Me with lots of videos & pics of me.  And to fill out an adoption application or see more pics, please visit www.littlebucketsfarmsanctuary.org/adopt.
