Best Friend Pet Adoption

Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) is a no-kill animal rescue organization based in central North Carolina. BFPA has no building, office, or shelter. We are an all-foster network committed to helping dogs and cats in need of homes. Individual donations are our most important source of income as we receive no public funding. Our purpose is to provide medical assistance, foster homes, and adoption services to previously lost, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in Wake County, NC and the surrounding counties. Our mission is to educate this disposable society in which we live that every life should be valued and cherished and is directly linked to human responsibility and commitment.Almost all the animals we rescue require immediate medical attention. BFPA never turns away or euthanizes an animal because of the expense involved in returning them to good health. All our rescued animals are evaluated for temperament, examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, microchipped (if possible) and sterilized, if age appropriate. Cats and dogs receive monthly flea/tick preventative and dogs also receive monthly heartworm preventative. The most important ingredients we provide to these animals are loving care and a safe haven -- something most of them have never experienced. These cats and dogs live in volunteer foster homes until we find them a loving permanent home, however long it takes. We match these precious beings to a single, couple or family who understand cats and dogs should be full participating members of the family. Our hope is that these animals never have to experience being unloved again.Since our beginning, BFPA has rescued and placed over 2,500 cats and dogs into their forever homes.BFPA was created in 1998 by two Raleigh-area women who had volunteered with other established rescues in the Triangle. Their dedication to help homeless dogs and cats has led to an organization that has grown to over 225 volunteers strong.BFPA received 501(c)(3) status in 1999.

Meet Jett

PLEASE NOTE:  Jett requires an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can meet him. Our application can be found at  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC. We will be looking for YOUR application!      How darling is this puppy!  Jett has a cute stripe on his face which adds to his charm.  Jett is small but mighty. He turned 8 weeks old mid-May and is now ready to explore the world.  His first adventure will be to find his forever home.   He loves to play outside and explore the garden. He loves to run fast and would make a good running companion when he is old enough to safely run with his human.   Like all puppies, Jett loves to eat, play and nap. He is already picking up house training well and goes mostly outside.  We take him out frequently to reinforce this behavior. When going to a new home, he would also need to have potty breaks on a regular basis since he is so. young.     He currently shares a puppy pen with his brother. Jett is working on sit and since he is food motivated, treats definitely help with his training.   Puppies have a natural tendency to nip, mouth and play bite.  So they may not be appropriate for young, small children who are not used to living with a dog.  If left alone for too long, Jett might cry/bark, so he may not be a good fit for apartments, condos or townhome with shared walls unless the adopter works from home.    EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Jett's Mother was killed by another dog when she gave birth.  So sad but a rescue saved them and bottle feed them for weeks. After they were bottle feed, Best Friend Pet Adoption admitted two of the puppies.  Jett and Jax are both looking for their forever homes. Can you provide a wonderful home for them?     Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JETT ? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window: https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC

Adoption Process
All adoptions begin with a trial period of at least 2 weeks before the adoption is finalized. Anyone interested in adopting completes an on line application which must be approved by our adoption coordinator. Process includes reference and vet record checks. All animals must be up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption trial. Fee is $250 for dogs, $115 for cats.
