Humane Society of Washington County, TN

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society promotes Spay/Neuter. We pull animals from our local animal shelter and place them in foster care, give them any medical attention they need, spay/neuter prior to adoptions. We also, review craigslist on a daily basis and contact individuals listing "free" puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in an effort to get them to surrender to us and attempt to educate these individuals about spay/neuter and the danger of listing free animals. Along with our foster animals, we take animals currently residing in our local shelter to adoption events.

Meet Nova

Nova is the sweetest pup.  She came into our program with her three sisters (Kat, Krausey and Nicklin).  They were very under weight when we first met them.  We think Nova was the protector of the group.  She is more outgoing and is always looking out for her sisters.  Nova is friendly pup.  She would make a great companion for a canine sibling or would do fine on her own.  She mastered the doggie door in her foster home the first day.  Nova sleeps quietly in her crated area at night with her sister Kat.   An approved application is required prior to scheduling a meet and greet. This puppy is in a foster home.  You may complete an application at https://hswctn.org/dog-adoption-application/ Please note that this is a mixed breed puppy. Visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. There is no guarantee on breed or adult size. https://hswctn.org/adoption-application-and-policies/

Adoption Process
$50.00 for cats and kittens, dogs range from $150.00 to $275.00. We have adoption applications and contracts for potential adopters to complete. Vet references are checked and home visits on some animals are required.
