Meet Dolly

Dolly is a sweet, spunky 9 lb, Shih Tzu who is 10-11 years old. She has a big personality in her tiny little body and when she sees you preparing her meal, she barks to show you how happy it makes her! She gets along with other dogs but enjoys just playing with her plush toys. Dolly would absolutely love a home where she can be with her person often, so she can wander the yard to sniff around and get fresh air. We prefer a home with a fenced yard but would consider one without as long as she got to take some meandering walks throughout the day with her person. Dolly has dry eye which requires daily eye drops for which she is very cooperative (6 mos of medication will be provided). Her vision has greatly improved to about 65% and should continue improving over the next 6 months. Since her depth perception isn’t great, Dolly needs a home without a lot of steps, as someone must carry her up/down any stairs. Dolly also has a heart murmur but doesn’t need medications at this time. She will need to be monitored regularly and have annual (or sooner if needed) cardiac evaluations. Heart murmurs are not uncommon in small breed dogs, but she may eventually need Vetmedin, so her adopter should ensure financial resources are available for yearly monitoring and medication if needed. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC and VA. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, North Carolina to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact [email protected]. There is an application process and adoption fee. An all-adult home (no children or grandchildren) and a yard with a secure fence, 4ft or higher, which is attached to the home is required to adopt from Hart-2-Heart Rescue. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption fee is $400.
