Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Diamond - Adoption Pending

Hi y’all! I’m Diamond, or maybe a Diamond in the rough since I am a fun loving, happy go lucky, female German Shepherd puppy. I am approximately 4 months old, weigh about 30 pounds, and am growing! I was picked up by the shelter as a stray, was rescued by the kind folks at Freedom and am now ready for my forever home.  As a puppy, I am very energetic and require a lot of physical and mental exercise. I love to play with other dogs and would prefer that my forever home have a playmate. I also love children so a home with children would be right up my alley. I do well with cats but will occasionally bark at them. I also love to eat their kitty food.  I really enjoy car rides because it means I am going on a new adventure! I must say I do well in public places. I enjoy meeting and greeting new people with my outgoing personality. I even enjoy going to the vet! Everyone at the vet’s office is so nice to me and they give me lots of love and cuddles.  I am somewhat of a cuddle bunny and enjoy cuddling with my foster mommy. If given the opportunity I will cuddle up with you! I enjoy walks and have learned to walk very well on a leash. My foster mommy is helping me learn basic obedience and I have “sit” and “down”, down pat. I am very proud of myself for being so smart that I am almost potty trained! I still have an occasional accident, but most days I am successful by having no accidents in the house; my little bladder will need more time to fully mature. I am crate trained but I really don’t like it because I just want to be with everyone.  I am a little dare devil and love to jump over the baby gate in my foster home! To keep me safe and secure I will require a 6 foot fence at my forever home. If you are looking for a sweet, great natured, social butterfly of a puppy then I may be just right for you and your home! I am a very smart girl and will offer you a lifetime of love and security! If you’d like to meet me, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you don’t have a adoption coordinator, you can complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . I am being fostered outside of Greenville, NC.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.
