Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Apache

Hi!  My name is Apache!  I am a 12-week-old, fawn colored German Shepherd mix. I weigh about 15 pounds and am still growing.   Unlike the helicopter I am named after, I am not likely to attack, except for cuddles and kisses!  My foster family's farm is so great, and I love exploring all around the yard and meeting new friends. The goats and horses don't seem that excited to see me and the cats don't seem that interested in me either. Oh, well, I still have my siblings and the older dogs here to play with!  I would love to have another dog in the home to play with in my furever home, but don't require one. When all the fun and games are done, I like to take a nap somewhere near one of the humans here and get some snuggles, too. Because I love being around my people so much, I don't need a fenced in yard.  I am not quite as food obsessed as my siblings but definitely enjoy my meals and tasty treats!  Since I tend to be a slower eater, they don't use a slow feeder with me, and I am crated so that I can enjoy my meals in peace.  My crate is a nice place to eat and catch a nap, too. I do sleep well in my crate at night although I may wake you up for a quick potty break sometimes.  Because I'm still a little, I will need someone to continue to help me learn my potty manners in the house. I'm a quick learner - promise!   There are no young children here, but my foster mom thinks I will do great with them as long as they understand I am a puppy and do all the puppy things. I would love a home with lots of toys to play with!  If you think I would be a great addition to your family, get in touch with your adoption coordinator. If you do not have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . I am being fostered near Southern Pines.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
