Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Eloise

Whether you are a Bridgerton fan or your favorite childhood book was “Eloise At The Plaza”, you have to admit that any Eloise deserves a quite posh and lavish life! I admit, I have had quite the GLOW UP! My New Year did not start off great. I had a litter of puppies whom I loved so much, but they were taken away from me and I was dumped on a rural road. Since being in my foster home I have blossomed into a beautiful young lady, if I do say so myself. My name is Eloise, loving, cute, cuddly and nurturing! I really love playing with my foster fur siblings, even though I am calm and collected.  When I play, I play with all of my heart. Playing with other dogs is my favorite activity! Oh and car rides - I love car rides! A note from Eloise’s foster mom: When first coming to us, Eloise was very timid and shy but she has come out of her shell and her personality has blossomed. Eloise is approximately 1.5 years old, and weighs around 65 pounds. She is crate trained, potty trained and is great with cats and dogs. She is still building confidence and having another confident dog in the home would be an added bonus to help her learn even more. She has not been around children, but given her sweet demeanor, I would expect her to do well with supervision. She can still be a bit shy when meeting new people, but comes around when she knows she is safe. She loves stuffed toys and takes care of them as if they are her babies. A yard with a minimum of a 4 foot high fence is required.   Eloise does well on walks and loves car rides!  We are working on basic obedience with her. She is low to moderate energy. When playing with other dogs she does well to match their energy and can become energetic playing with them; with her humans she enjoys her lavish life as a couch potato! She also has done well at the vet and being groomed. If you're ready to make Eloise a member of your family, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . Eloise is being fostered outside of Wilmington.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
