Freedom German Shepherd Rescue

We are a group of volunteers that are dedicated to saving the lives of German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes. We all work in a variety of disciplines to include medical, financial, animal welfare and corporate. What bonds us is our love for all dogs, specifically German Shepherds. We've all volunteered for other 501c nonprofit rescues and feel the dogs are best served by all of us working together. We all strongly feel that there are too many unwanted, abused and neglected animals that we want to work together, with shelters and the community, to help reduce the epidemic through saving the dogs and educating the public.

Meet Ella

Introducing, Ella. She is ready for her close up!  This super sweet pup loves to be the center of attention, and she knows exactly how to get it!   I know I'm adorable, and I love to get all the pets and cuddles from the humans. I am a 6 month old, almost 40 pound baby. My foster mom says I'm a sassy, energetic and playful pup. I get very excited when I get to spend time out of my crate. You see, due to an injury that I got before being rescued, I had to be on crate rest for what felt like an eternity. I'm way too pretty to be in a crate! I don't even remember how I was injured, and I feel totally healthy! I’m almost housebroken too. I used to have to be in a stroller on outings, but now I'm getting used to walking on a leash! I am a high energy, curious pup, but not a jumper so a 4 foot fence will be fine. I LOVE making the humans happy. I love food too which makes me very easy to train. I have to be fed in my crate though because I try to steal my foster sister's food. I love to play with everyone and everything! I wish the kitty would play with me, but she always runs away. So do those chickens in the backyard... I don't understand why; I just want to PLAY!  My foster mom says I'm really smart!! I already know how to sit and stay. When I go on outings, everyone stops what they are doing to come pet me. They can't resist me. Everyone talks about how well behaved I am!! Little kids just adore me, and their mommies and daddies all say that I am great with kids. I just love being with my humans, whether we are playing outside, or cuddling on the couch. My foster humans say I'm an awesome cuddle partner. If you would like to add me to your family, please reach out to your adoption coordinator. If you don’t have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org I am being fostered outside of Rocky Mount, NC.

Adoption Process
All applicants must pass a vet check, phone interview and home visit in order to adopt. Once an applicant passes, they must sign an adoption contract where they agree to alter the dog by 6 months of age - if they are adopting a puppy, guarantee that the dog will receive proper vet care, food, water and exercise, and will return the dog to the rescue if they can no longer keep the dog for any reason. All dogs are microchipped prior to adoption, with Freedom GSR always remaining on the chip. The adoption fee is $250, adopters receive a 2 week trial period with the dog and if the adopter is found to be in violation of the contract, Freedom GSR will reclaim the dog. All dogs will not be adopted out until they are up to date on shots, free of heartworms and intestinal parasites and altered, if six months of age or older. If a puppy is adopted, the adoption contract stipulates that the puppy must be altered by the time s/he turns 6 months old.

Look for other dogs for adoption!
