Meet Murphy

Murphy is a 1-year-old, 14 lb. Bichon/Yorkie/Maltese mix.  Murphy has a tight curly coat, long body and short legs like a Bichon, but the coloring of a Yorkie.  He's energetic and has a high play style, so he can hang with a dog who is twice his weight. He's a happy boy who loves to run and play. He would be a pest to an older dog or one who does not have the same play drive that he does.  Murphy is smart and curious and benefits from having structured activities, including walking and toys that engage his brain. He is not a dog for someone who is looking for a couch potato. Quite the opposite; Murphy has been described as fun and the "life of the party."  Murphy has a very high prey drive, and the first thing he does when he goes out is patrol the yard for small furry creatures.   Murphy is crate trained and is doing well on his house training when kept on a regular schedule.  If you are looking for big-dog fun in a small-dog package, then Murphy's your guy.  Although he is only 14 pounds, he is very quick, strong, and a trip hazard.  The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact [email protected]. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD.  The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 2 1/2 inches and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500
