CrisisDogsNC is a foster-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit founded in 2017 by journalist and author Judith Reitman Texier whose investigative articles garnered international awards and prompted changes in animal welfare laws. She created the Organization in response to North Carolina’s euthanasia rate which is among the highest in the country and to many of its shelters’ methods of euthanasia that are so inhumane they are outlawed in most other states.​We rescue dogs from kill shelters, substandard backyard breeders, hoarders, and from chains. We provide full medical care, foster homes, and transport by land and air through our partnership with PilotsNPaws to fully screened and qualified adopters all along the East Coast.​What distinguishes us from other rescues is our focus on the relationship between the rescued dog and the new family. By understanding your lifestyle and expectations, as well as the personalities of our rescue dogs, we can make a compatible match for a lifelong bond. We are in it for the life of the dog. At any point after adoption, if the adopter's situation changes for whatever reason, we will always accept the dog back into the rescue.

***Courtesy Post, email [email protected] for any questions and to apply to adopt Red*** Red is a two-year-old, fifty-eight-pound, Rhodesian Ridgeback and Labrador Retriever mix. Red was dumped after a divorce and this gentle, energetic girl is pining for a home. She is great with mature kids ten and older where she is not able to knock them down with her size. She is gentle with little dogs, and a sturdy playmate to big dogs. Red likes to snuggle, has excellent house manners, she does not jump on the bed or furniture, and can be crated for short periods of time. A crate is probably not necessary since she is not destructive in the house. Red loves car rides. This is a great buddy dog who loves to socialize, visit stores and engage with the public. Red is fully vetted, has been on year-round heartworm prevention, is healthy and ready for a secure stable life. Adoption Process
We screen fosters and adopters. If approved for a Dog you will be required to sign a contract.
