Speaking of Dogs Rescue

Speaking of Dogs Rescue Program is a Canadian registered charity. We are a volunteer-based dog rescue in Toronto that is dedicated to assisting dogs from shelters as well as taking in dogs surrendered by their owner when space allows. We have a focus on helping senior dogs. Our dogs are lovingly cared for in foster homes until we find them a suitable forever home.

Meet Nova

Meet Nova – Your Next Smart & Sweet Adventure Buddy! This adorable 4-month-old Border Collie mix is 25 pounds of pure potential!  Nova is incredibly intelligent—she learned "sit" in under five minutes and is already working on commands like shake, heel, wait, off, and stay. With her eager-to-learn attitude, she’s a dream for anyone who enjoys training and bonding with a pup who catches on fast. She’s impressively calm for a puppy, especially when she gets her two daily walks and some playtime with doggy friends. Nova would thrive in a home with another large, well-behaved dog to show her the ropes and keep her company. She’s mostly housetrained and does her business outside during walks and yard time, though she hasn’t quite figured out how to ask to go out yet—so expect a few accidents as she continues learning. She sleeps in her crate at night for this reason and holds it for 8 hours at night. This sweet girl loves car rides and is a great travel buddy. She’s very social and gets along well with humans, dogs, and even cats. Nova is looking for an adopter who enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and has the time to nurture a smart pup who can learn just about anything.  In the meantime, she’s all set to find her forever home full of love, fun, and learning. Nova, the 4-month-old border collie mix, ready to learn, play, and explore the world by your side!

Adoption Process
We have applicants fill out a questionnaire, we do a phone interview, and if things go well we do a home check. If that goes well we arrange for the person to meet the dog in the presence of one of our volunteers. If that goes well and all parties are happy and it's the right fit, we have the person sign an adoption contract. We spay/neuter, vaccinate, and microchip all dogs prior to adoption. Also, the contract states that if in the future they can't keep the dog that they must return the dog to us. Our adoption fee is $450.
