Meet Kiva in NC - A Princess Pocket Pyr!

Cutie-pie Kiva, with the long, soft, and stunning coat, is ready to find her furever family! She’s a Pocket Pyr, showcasing all the Pyr traits and pyrfect Pyr attitude, but in half the size! Kiva loves attention, and therefore loves people of all ages and sizes. True to her guardian nature, she will bark to let her humans know about potential “threats,” including people she doesn’t know, but once she realizes those people are coming to love on her, she turns on the charm and is ready to receive her pets! Kiva came into rescue extremely underweight, and is doing much better now that she’s in a loving foster home where she enjoys regular meals served with love! This happy-go-lucky gal enjoys car rides, being both inside and outdoors, walks well on leash, is crate trained, and is fine with brushing and baths. She’s young and sassy, and loves toys and playing with other dogs (she makes fast friends with any size canine)! Her ideal home would have a doggie brother to play with, and a fenced-in yard for fun in the sun and getting down and dirty! Due to her small size, a 4’ fence would suit her just fine, so if you’re in the market for a shorty Pyr princess, look no further than Kiva! Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply.  We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted.
