Meet Rescue Target

The smallest of dogs can fill a heart with love and healing. This cute little guy hopes for your love and healing. Target (or Tarzshjay) is an adult neutered male Chihuahua mix found as a stray. He needs hip surgery and he needs you. VFA will pay for all of his medical care. Love is the greatest healing therapy and Target hopes for yours. Update: Target has had his surgery and is recovering in a foster home and will soon be ready for a new and forever home. His foster mom reports that he LOVES to snuggle; he enjoys car rides; he is not a fan of the rain; he doesn’t bark much unless there is a good reason; he loves laying on the grass in the sun; he is going up and down the stairs on his own. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, email us at [email protected]   Adoption Procedures Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $300 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.    

Adoption Process
There is a $60 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE for all animals which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered there is a $35 REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT upon proof of surgery. An adoption application must be filled out at the Shelter by the person wishing to adopt the animal. Once the application has been reviewed and approved the potential adopter may visit and meet any of the animals.
