Location: ME Choose your own adventure!!! If you’ve been looking for a loyal sidekick with a playful, up-for-anything temperament, I have great news for you: his name is Radley, and he’s a whole lot of fun in a very handsome package! Radley is a 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix with a friendly, social personality. He’s got the athleticism to be a great hiking, biking, running or sport dog buddy, and the outgoing nature to hang at the brew pub with you after a day of adventuring! He’s a typical young Cattle Dog who needs ample mental and physical exercise, but he does settle once some of that energy has been burned. He also loves to play ball, which will help meet his exercise requirements on busy days. In fact, he enjoys toys and puzzle games of all kinds. Goofy and affectionate, Radley loves to cuddle with his people, and by “with them” I mean “ON them”. Personal space is not a thing in Radley’s worldview. If 45 pound lap dogs aren’t currently your bliss, he might be just the guy to change your mind. Since he’s still a youngster who is fully embracing his Wild Child era, he does jump up sometimes when he’s happy to see you, and - typical for the breed - can be mouthy when excited. He hasn’t shown a lot of herding behavior, so would likely be fine with kids old enough and sturdy enough to withstand his “Love hard, play hard” style. However, I have not seen him interact with children, so a meet and greet would be required. Radley really enjoys playing with other dogs and has struggled a bit when it comes to respecting the cues of the grumpy senior dogs in his foster home. He’s sure he could convince them to play if he just tried a little harder. (Nope. Not happening.) To help him be his best and least-frustrated self, dog pals in Radley’s new home should be open to vigorous play. For that reason, Radley would not be the best match for households with elderly or toy breed dogs. We don’t know how he would do with cats. Radley jumps right in the car and is ready to be your co-pilot. He is house and crate trained, and has mastered basic cues like “sit’, and “down”, and has the start of a solid recall. He is whip smart and eager to learn. We will be looking for an adopter who is excited to build a lifetime bond with this wonderful boy through fun, positive training. Breed experience is a definite plus. Radley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He is being fostered in Maine. To facilitate meet-and-greets and transportation to his new home, preference will be given to New England adopters. Questions about Rad?
