Meet Ralphie
Ralphie is the kind of dog who makes you want to be a better person… He came to us with a horribly split lip from likely a terrible trauma, a cracked k9 tooth that needed to be removed, lumps, bumps, open sores, almost no teeth (and those that he has are ground down to almost nothing) , skin infections, double ear infections, not neutered...the list just kept going. We had him to the vet the very next day where he began a 4 week course of antibiotics, treatment for his ear infections, medicated bathes, supplements, and good nutrition. He’s now neutered and had oral surgery (his lip was not successfully repairable as the stitches rip as soon as he shakes his head). We’ve heard that Ralphie was kept in a warehouse in Rochester and was believed to be a bait dog…. He SHOULD hate everyone, he should hate other dogs, he should be fearful, he should be distrustful of humans, he should…the list could go on and on. People who meet him have said they feel honored to know him and that he could certainly teach us some valuable lessons…. He loves with his entire soul and you can see the trust in his eyes when he greets you. Trust he really shouldn't have, but does. We believe he's about 6-8 years old and he's so deserving of a loving home where his tail can wag freely (it never stops wagging), he can be cuddled, and he can get all the butt scratches he wants (he happily gives you his butt upon meeting you)! Ralphie is house trained and great in his crate. His lip and lack of teeth dont slow him down- hard food, treats, a pupa-chino, he has no problem! He’s dog friendly (he’s fostered with 5 other large dogs), and his bestie is a younger, higher energy female dog who he loves to wrestle and canoodle…his foster family did not expect her to be his bestie! Although he loves other dogs (and you can often find him cuddling in bed with other dogs), we think he’d be equally happy to cuddle in bed with his humans as an only dog.
