Meet JJ

JJ really knows how to make an entrance! This young Schnauzer Poodle mix (SCHNOODLE) practically rescued himself back in April - he came walking out of a ravine and approached an area home looking for help. In return, his finder attempted to make him more comfortable by giving him a bath in baby shampoo (hence the name JJ - short for Johnson & Johnson). Sporting a sheep-like, matted coat, JJ brought a collection of flora and fauna along with him to the shelter. While his finders did their best and he smelled just like a baby, JJ still needed a full shave down during his neuter surgery - but now he's ready for a fresh start with his new 'do! JJ is a young, high-spirited schnoodle who thinks he is much bigger than he actually is! He ticks many boxes on the `best dog ever` trait list (he is charming, affectionate, and can play for hours despite his small size). However, he doesn't seem to understand that he is not the boss in the human-dog relationship, or even dog-dog relationships. He can be very bossy and demanding, relying on his nippy mouth to demand his way. Iin the sheltering business, we would say this boy has `spunk`! JJ also unfortunately comes with a built-in megaphone - he’s got opinions, he’s got excitement, and he’s not afraid to share both. Boy does JJ make an entrance - you hear him before you see him! Seriously—apartment life just isn’t really his jam (and your neighbours will likely agree). JJ would thrive in a home with space to express himself and humans who appreciate his bold, joyful energy. He also needs an experienced owner who knows what it takes to train him out of his mouthing and nippy tendencies, which largely went unchecked in his puppyhood. As fabulous as he is, JJ does come with some additional fine print: he’ll need regular grooming to keep that dapper schnauzer style sharp, and he has patellar laxity, which may require monitoring with your vet to make sure those spunky legs stay strong. If you’ve got a zest for life and a heart big enough for a dog who brings the drama (in the best way), JJ is ready to make your world brighter, louder, and a whole lot more fun. He has now Please call the East Shelter as the first step to the adoption process 416-338-PAWS (7297).
