Meet Missy in TN - Sweet & Gentle Companion

Missy is a gorgeous Pyr girl that was rescued with her litter mates. She’s had a great time in her wonderful foster home learning what having a loving family is like and is now ready to find her furever home! Missy is a low to medium activity girl who doesn’t mind lounging outside in the cool weather but prefers to be indoors with her humans when it’s hot out. Missy enjoys going for car rides, being brushed, occasionally playing with toys and chewing on her Benebone. She’s easy to please! Missy isn’t a fan of baths and is very scared of storms. Sometimes medication is needed to calm her nerves when at the groomer or before a big storm rolls in. Missy is learning that counter surfing is not considered proper house manners. She shows separation anxiety when left alone, so needs to be crated when you are away. Missy is a very sweet and laid-back girl. Throughout the day, she will come over and lay her head in your lap for gentle pets and will use the famous Pyr Paw to get your attention. Missy is a lovely, mild-mannered girl who likes to be with her person most of the time. Although hesitant when meeting new people, give her a little time and she then warms up and wants to be petted (Missy needs to come to you rather than you going to her). She has an even temperament and is sweet and gentle with cats, young and old. Missy also gets along well with her foster's older male Pyr, but we think she would do best with another more active male dog she could play with (of course she wouldn't mind being an only dog hogging up all the attention :) So if you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion apply for Missy today! Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply.  We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes and not all of them are posted.
