Joyful Rescues, Inc.

Since our humble beginnings in December 2002, Joyful Rescues has grown into a 501(c)3 non-profit corporate team of volunteer animal lovers reaching out to help homeless dogs, puppies, cats and kittens in need of love, affection and forever homes. We are a no-kill shelter – meaning we never euthanize for space. Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.

Meet Tillie

Tillie was born September 1, 2015 and weighs 32 pounds.  Tillie has soft, fluffy even more so than any other Eskie I've met.   If you don't like wearing fur or if you prefer a no fuss fur friend this girl is really not for you.  She arrived her with her fur in wonderful condition which is not feasible for us to maintain here with a country lifestyle the dogs enjoy for their time here.  Tillie is house trained, fine on leash and enjoys going for rides.  Upon arrival she jumped out of the car happy to look around and smell all the new things.  When she realized her world, as she knew it, had crashed she did become rather sullen and a teensy bit *itchy for a few days.  We gave her the time and space she needed to decide that it really is kind of a cool place and the humans here are rather on the fun side, especially if you are a dog!  Now she is silly, happy, outgoing and we've found loves to be brushed.  Well, actually what we do is clip the burdocks and the tree branches from ALL that gorgeous fur!  Yes, she's having a blast here now, but is looking forward to a new home of her own again and likely would enjoy having another dog friend as that is what she is used to.  Tillie is used to having a human around most of the time and her last mom worked in a home office and if Tillie was with her and a client entered she did show a protective side and would position herself between the stranger human and her mom.  She does not seem to have a preference of men or women, but she is not that fond of younger kids, mostly those under 8 years.  In the summers she loves to lay on tile or another cool surface and the groomer would save her tummy which seemed to work for her.  Tillie had good veterinary care and a dental in February 2024 and has a wellness plan, that the owner "intends" to continue to pay, with Banfield that will expire January 2025.  Tillie has been previously diagnosed with a lipoma (fatty tumor) behind her right shoulder that is about the size of a large grape.  Tillie has had two litter of puppies, but those days are done.  Tillie knows sit and laydown and loves to run and chase with other dogs, she is normally the alpha. She tends not to play with toys, but enjoys peanut butter in a Kong.  I was told spray cheese too, but since she tends to put on a few pounds it is probably better to stick to peanut butter - still lots of calories, but at least it has some nutritional benefits too.  As you can tell, her human mom loved her very much and we love that she told us so much about Tillie.  Her mom was recently diagnosed with a condition that is often painful and was having surgery the day after Tillie arrived.  Here is her final note:  Finally, we are heartbroken to have to rehome her.  She really is one of my babies and best friend.  She is loyal and ready to learn new things.  Give her time and she will be your new soulmate.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_500.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
