SULLY HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING. WE, THEREFORE, WILL NOT BE PROCESSING ANY ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS FOR HIM.Meet Sully!!!!!! Happy, happy, happy - that's what Sully is, all day, every day. He loves all people and introduces himself to every canine friend he meets with a tail wag. Food is even more fun. He will dance and squeak and race to his crate to eat - and he is part of the clean bowl club. If his canine friends don't want to play or mom is busy with dinner clean-up, that's okay; he will just grab a toy and entertain himself. Sully is not the biggest fan of crate training - but he is okay with it settles in quickly; though, he really prefers to be with his people. As for potty training, that is a breeze too. Sully really is a cool, happy little guy looking for a family that will enjoy him & include him in day-to-day family life. Our best guess on breed (NO GUARANTEE) is that Sully is a wheaten terrier mix. We also estimate (though CANNOT GUARANTEE) that he is approximately 1 year old. He weighs about 25 lbs. Sully is also neutered and up to date on his core vaccine. So, he is ready for his forever home._______________________________________________________________________ **If you are seriously interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY. Also, a follow-up email to [email protected] is strongly recommended. To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net. (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.) When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application. (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. (So, please check your SPAM.) Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450 applies. YOU CANNOT MEET SULLY UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT. WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants. Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County. Thank you for your interest. (Sorry we will not respond to generic "check the box," "Is he available," "Can you give me more information" inquiries.) NYS Rescue Registry No. RR 087
Adoption Process
The adoption process will begin with an extensive adoption application, accessible on our website. In addition to a series of questions (e.g., to ascertain the adopter's likes/dislikes, lifestyle, and general suitability), the application will require, among other things, a veterinary reference and two personal (non-family member) references. In lieu of a veterinary references, we will require 3 personal references. We will also require submission of digital photos of home and yard, as well as a home visit. Approved adopters will be required to take their pup or dog to the vet within 7 days of adoption. Each animal adopted from Safe At Last will go home with a medical booklet, complete with all details of vetting done prior to adoption, with explicit instructions as to the follow up required. All animals will be UTD with all age appropriate shots prior to adoption, and barring any health reasons that would preclude it, they will be placed on topical protection for fleas/ticks, and based on age, also started on heartworm preventative (or provided with the first dose). Any animals older than 4 months will be spayed/neutered before adoptions. For animals under 4 months old, the adoption contract will require spay/neuter by the time the animal is 6 months of age. We will require proof of same and will assign one of our members to have the task of following up on proof of spay and neuter. Under the contract, the adoptive family will not "own" the animal until we have received proof of spay and neuter. Failure to have the surgery performed will allow us, under the contract, to reclaim the pet.
