Meet Shane

If you love old Western movies like Shane, then you will fall in love with your own Western boy Shane from Texas. This beautiful brown 4-year-old Great Dane Mixed Breed sweetheart was brought into a shelter after being found as a stray and is now ready to settle into a loving family and home of his very own.Shane may not realize that he is a big boy (89 pounds) because he is often searching for a lap to use for one of his regular rests. Shane is easy to have around the house because he is a low energy guy who can be satisfied with walks between naps. He is fine hanging out with children and does not mind other dogs, so long as they do not expect too much play from him. It is not known if Shane is comfortable with cats.Shane is working at his housetraining, crate training and leash walking. He has experienced several transitions so calm, positive lessons with some treats for good behavior will help Shane mind his manners. If crate training is planned, Shane requires a large crate so he can stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably for a nap. Crates must be warm, welcoming places and never used for punishment. It is not always easy to make lap room for a large dog but if you have plenty of space in your heart and home, Shane is longing to make your acquaintance and settle in for plenty of cuddling and love.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Shane is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.

Adoption Process
Potential adopters must complete a comprehensive application, interview and home inspection. The final step in the process is explaination and completion of adoption contract. The adoption fee is $450 inclusive of all vetting and transportation charges.
