Joyful Rescues, Inc.

Since our humble beginnings in December 2002, Joyful Rescues has grown into a 501(c)3 non-profit corporate team of volunteer animal lovers reaching out to help homeless dogs, puppies, cats and kittens in need of love, affection and forever homes. We are a no-kill shelter – meaning we never euthanize for space. Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.

Meet Millie Peke

Millie was born around February 22, 2016 and weighs about 22 pounds.  Joyful was contacted by the brother of a man who had gone into Hospice and left behind 3 dogs and a cat.  The man's brother had owned the animals and loved them very much but he was ill and unable to take care of himself let alone his pets.   Millie's toenails were curled into the pads on all 4 feet. Her flea infestation had caused what looked like bed sores and some of her wrinkles had maggots in them.  The skin covering her legs was so inflamed she couldn't physically bend one of them. Once we got the matted hair off we found urine scald running the length of her underside and covering her back end.  Her lady parts had thick hair congealed with a paste made of urine and filth making it impossible for her to urinate properly.  Even though her pain and discomfort level must have been unbearable Millie wagged her tail and kissed us the entire time we worked on getting her cleaned up.  Millie is feeling much better but she will need ongoing care. Millie is getting OTC eye drops 3x a day along with 2x daily warm compresses.   Millie is currently in a foster home with other dogs and kitties and loves them all however I would not put her with a rambunctious dog as she's not interested in playing.  Millie adores her humans and would like to be with them as much as possible. She uses her nose to follow her foster dad around the house and will coo or snort like a pig at him to be picked up.  Millie has been wonderful with housetraining but because of her age and sight/sound impairment it will take time for her to adjust to new surroundings and environment so be prepared for accidents. We really love this girl and will be looking for the perfect match for her.    The Adoption Fee for this dog is $475.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link "Special Instructions to Seller" if you want to note a particular pet
