Desert Paws Inc. Animal Rescue

we are filling the 'missing link' for abandoned animals in our area. We are a small rural community surrounded by poverty-stricken towns, campgrounds, and reservations where many animals are not neutered/spayed, dumped, abandoned, and neglected. We rehab them, spay/neuter them, get veterinary care for them, socialize, and find forever homes for these great affectionate rescue pets.

Meet ChiChi and GARY bonded pair

Bonded pair ChiChi and Gary.  Gary is a male Blue Heeler mix medium sized 27# born in April 2023 on one of the reservations we work with.  ChiChi is a female Kelpie/Heeler mix 29# born in March 2023 on the same reservation as Gary.  This duo is a bonded pair, we will not adopt them separately. They love to play and run, they are active but also like their sleep time ;-) They love treats, Gary loves to run around the yard during playtime with a toy in his mouth. ChiChi and Gary play together and they love other dogs. ChiChi will at first be afraid of dogs bigger than her. they are not leash trained, they are smart. As with heelers/cattledogs/kelpie, they are a bit shy with people at first and once they warm up they are loyal and affectionate.     This pair is not for apartment living. They'd do best in a home with a medium/small backyard. They both came into the rescue from the reservation with injuries which have since completely healed, thankfully:-) They are crate trained, good with cats and dogs, kids over 10. They might enjoy agility type fun.   Their adoption fee includes their spaying/neutering, vaccines, deworming and microchip.    * You must live in our adoptable area (Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, White Rock, Los Alamos areas of New Mexico) and  * Please, no children under the age of ten.    If you are searching elsewhere for a dog/shopping please let us know this.      Adoption Process (just a few days): Please email [email protected] first to see if the dog is still available. There is an online application process - application, photos, phone/zoom, meetgreet at your home with your pets and family members. We bring the pet to you!        We look forward to meeting you and your fur babies and bringing a new member to your family!  Desert Paws Inc Animal Rescue of New Mexico has been rescuing animals since 2009. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization. Our primary work is on three pueblo Indian reservations in rural New Mexico.   We do emergency veterinary services, spay/neuter, preventive vaccines, flea/tick, deworming for both the animals that are neglected and abandoned and need forever families as well as for the animals of tribal members. Thank you for your support!
