Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is Philadelphia's largest no-kill shelter and is working to make Philadelphia a city in which every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home. Through its adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals each year.In March 2010, PAWS opened a low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter and wellness clinic serving pet owners and rescues in an effort to keep pets healthy and reduce the homeless pet population. Located in the Grays Ferry section of the city, the Clinic serves pet owners who have difficulty affording or do not have access to basic veterinary care (sterilization, vaccinations, treatments for upper respiratory infections/parasites/fleas, etc.) and rescue organizations that need affordable spay/neuter surgery and basic veterinary care to carry out their lifesaving work. Support for PAWS funds lifesaving initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay/neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other efforts, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Meet Levi

Say hello to Levi! This little guy has been compared to a cute baby lamb with his soft curly coat, droopy ears, and tiny snout. The resemblance is uncanny! Levi is quite the extroverted boy and wants nothing more than to play the day away and meet new friends wherever he goes! His sweet and fun-loving nature makes those around him fall in love instantly. A perfect day for Levi involves rolling around with his furry friends, and a couple nice long walks so he can sniff all the smells the world has to offer. He seems to emulate a lot of cat energy and enjoys playing or napping with his current fosters cat most of the day. Levi's a pretty big fetch and tug of war enthusiast, but prefers that you play all games with his trusty lamb chop plushie toy. His foster noted his goofiest quirk is that he incessantly nuzzles you with his snout to let you know he has to go outside for a potty break. When you finally catch on, he gallops to the door with a goofy smile like he's about to get the best treat of his life! This cutie was surrendered to PAWS by his former owner because they unfortunately could no longer care for him. Levi cohabitates great with cats, kids and has previously lived with another dog in the past. He's also crate-trained and house-broken. Levi does have some skin allergies that cause him to sometimes chew at himself from itchiness. We are exploring anti-itch medications to reduce the effects of his skin allergies. Otherwise weekly medicated baths have helped immensely, but potential adopters should be comfortable providing further care if needed.  If you're looking for a perfect pocket sized companion to add to your family, ask about Levi today!
