Meet Snuggles (foster or adopter needed!)

1 1/2 year old, 48-pound lab mix Snuggles arrived Saturday April 6th from Mississippi expecting to go to her forever home on Sunday. Snuggles was scared and anxious at the time, and larger than what the Mississippi shelter originally conveyed to Peace4Paws.  For those two reasons Snuggles never went home as planned.   Her adopter decided not to adopt Snuggles.  So sad! None of this was Snuggles fault.  She was just a baby and spent most of her life growing up in a kind shelter. She socialized with her sister and other dogs and got along well with all the familiar shelter humans, she would give them kisses and hugs, but she did not know much about life outside the kennel.  When she first arrived in NJ she was scared, but eventually she was eating out of the hand of the sensitive Peace4Paws volunteer.  Her baby steps of learning to trust quickly turned around to feeling terror when she entered the boarding facility and suddenly encountered all the new people. Since that scary first day, she has been visited by one of our trainers, Richie from Greta Trains Dogs and he noted that since her world had been turned upside down and was understandably scared.  In the shortest of times as noted in the videos she has been accepting the kindness of the Peace4Paws volunteers who have taken control of handling her at the boarding facility. They can’t come often or for long but they are helping her learn to trust and adjust.   See our attached video!   She is just like a normal friendly dog!  Snuggles is dog friendly and getting more and more comfortable on a leash. Peace4Paws is looking for a patient, experienced foster that can help her decompress and slowly introduce her to the world.  She would do well with a confidant resident dog and a low traffic household. No young children at this point (but possibly later). She spent many hours since a baby in the kennel without experiencing the full spectrum of attention she would have received in a home.  She gave and received love from the humans.  She had the companionship of her sister.  So, she could be in a pen, kennel or a gated area for an extended amount of time without any human companionship. She is not at this time used to cars or to many normal home experiences, but we need for that to change for her so we are reaching out to you. We are seriously looking for a committed foster or adopter who wishes to help her learn to trust the world. She is spayed, fully vetted and up to date on her shots. She is very healthy according to all reports and observations. To apply, visit www.peace4paws.org and submit your application using a laptop or computer.
