Rescue City

Our mission is to save the lives of dogs in desperate need while spreading public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation.Everyday we save vulnerable dogs from neglect, abuse, and euthanasia. We provide temporary safe foster homes and medical/emergency treatment to prepare these loving animals for their forever home. (This means we do not have a physical shelter location, and all of our dogs are in loving foster homes throughout the city.) Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, we connect our dogs with loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every dog is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated prior to finalization of adoption. Our commitment to our dogs goes beyond the adoption process, as we stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our fosters, adopters, and community on what they can do to help dogs in need.

Meet Skye

Meet Skye  47 lbs, 5-6 months old, curious, playful and a stunning young pup who’s quickly winning hearts all over NYC! Skye came to Rescue City with her 5 littermates with the help of @nycacc after being left without a place to go. Skye loves people and lights up when she gets attention. She loves belly rubs, being petted, and greeting strangers on the street with a wagging tail. At home, she’s playful but knows how to chill. Once she’s gotten her energy out, she’s the perfect lounging buddy. Her ideal day includes walks (though she’s still learning not to zig-zag or pull), relaxing near her people, and being included in your everyday life, from the park to the cafe. She’s done well meeting other dog. Skye is crate trained and sleeps through the night quietly. She’s almost fully house trained and improving with consistency. She’s working on learning basic commands like “Sit,” “No/Off,” and recall using touch, though she’s not yet very food-motivated, unless it’s homemade chicken and rice! This sweet girl would thrive in a home with a family who is home often or can help her build confidence being alone/with loud noises outside. Overall she’s a smart, friendly, and affectionate pup ready to become someone’s loyal companion. She will be an incredible best friend to a family ready to walk up, loving forever bestie!
