Meet Annie
Hi, I’m Annie and I’m an adorable, fun, playful, and spunky 15 week old purebred, female yellow Labrador Retriever. I’m very smart and full of puppy energy. My foster parents gush over how cute and funny I am. I love people and other playful dogs. My foster mom says I don’t know when to stop- why would a puppy want to stop playing??? I’m doing really well with crate training (although I hate napping in my crate during the day). I never have accidents in my crate. I just started going to the door when I need to go potty. Yay me! I overheard my foster mom say that I’ll need consistent training or I’ll revert to my old farm life of going to the bathroom anywhere when the need arises. I disagree but I’m still a young puppy. Here’s my story: I was living on a farm up until about 3 weeks ago. While I was there, I went to the veterinarian (so scary) who diagnosed me with a level IV/V heart murmur. Because of this diagnosis, the breeder was told not to sell me. They asked the nice people at Brookline Lab Rescue if they would spring me from the farm and enable me to get additional testing and if needed, medical care. Of course, Brookline said they would help me and asked for a volunteer to foster me. I was scared of my foster parents at first but after a few minutes I fell in love with them. Less than a week later I went to a veterinary cardiologist. He did several tests and said my heart murmur was actually a level 1 and that I had no underlying issues. He recommended I get seen again when I’m grown, and my heart’s fully formed, around my first birthday, as a precaution. He said a heart murmur in itself with no pathology is no big deal. I kept telling them I was perfectly healthy but now they know for sure. I’m now ready for my forever home. I love to be with my people. I like to sit on them chewing my toys and play with them. I can do this all day! You need to have lots of energy and patience because like all puppies, especially Labs, I’m so cute but I'm a handful! I love kibble so with training classes I'll be your best girl! For more information, please check out my blog on the Brookline Lab Rescue website. brooklinelabrescue.org
Adoption Process
All applicants complete an application and have a home visit before being approved to adopt. Once approved to adopt, they wait to find the right dog for their family. They are required to sign a pre-adoptive agreement and keep the dog they are matched with for a 3 week pre-adoptive period. If all goes well during that period, they sign an adoption agreement and adopt the dog. The fees vary depending on the age and altered status of the dog. We do require all dogs to be altered if they are not already and require obedience training as well
