The Dog House Rescue

The Dog House Rescue is the pet project of two dog lovers that wandered into a municipal animal shelter to pick up one new family member and left with seven. Like much of the public, we had mistakenly believed that most shelters are able to provide a no-kill haven for homeless animals. Due to overcrowding, the euthanasia rate at one facility alone is 80%. With the average dog having less than one week to find an adopter, it is easy to find great dogs who were simply born in an unfortunate geographic area. We exist to help bridge the gap between loving homes seeking good citizen companions and good natured dogs looking for an opportunity to show their stuff. Those that have found themselves in a shelter through no fault of their own and would otherwise be euthanized for space are given medical treatment, spayed/neutered, and obedience trained so that they may continue to be good citizens in their forever families. Our adoption process begins with an application painting a picture of the adopter’s preferences and capabilities and moves forward with meet and greets. Adopters get to know their future family member and we enjoy learning about each individual’s hopes and dreams for their new friend. With a match made and personal chemistry being mutual, the adoption contract is finalized and hand offs are celebrated with a free training session. This complimentary hour with a professional trainer, already well known to each dog, helps owners to speak their loved one’s language and provides an additional point of contact for any questions that may arise in the future. All residents at The Dog House are considered family for life. We understand that personal tragedies happen. If a Dog House member is ever unable to continue in their adopted home, they are welcomed back with open arms. Having already survived the shelter once, our promise to them is to never be homeless again.

Meet Stout

BRAVE BOLD BEAUTIFUL Hi, I am Stout. Fearless and quick to investigate, I am the first man on scene to explore any new situation. Enthusiasm and courage accompany me as I leap into action and tackle any challenge. No new footing, obstacle, or person scares me! My thirst for adventure inspires my siblings and brings laughter to my mom and dad. But don’t let my courageous nature fool you, I’m really a gentle teddy bear whose FAVORITE things are BELLY RUBS! As I grow, I will bring bravery, selflessness, and boundless love to my family while lighting up their lives with courage and compassion. Are you my kind, fearless, and FOREVER leader? *My momma was scared, pregnant, and scheduled for euthanasia in a shelter due to overcrowding...several days after being rescued she had us in her new parent's bed! We have been given a great start in life including nail trims, raised in a home, riding in cars, and being handled from nose to toes from day 1. Please continue my education in puppy kindergarten where I learn to be confident in new places, with new people, and all sorts of dogs! We want Stout to be the envy of your neighbors. The most loved, best behaved, best friend in the world. Instead of spending your money on shots, spay/neuter, microchipping, we take care of it all for you. *Stout comes up to date on shots, wormed, and microchipped *You enroll in puppy kindergarten and we take care of the rest of his shots for you! *Neuters cost $450-600 in the community--when you show proof of enrollment in a basic obedience class we have your puppy neutered for you! Don't miss out on the opportunity to welcome Stout into your heart and home. Contact us to schedule a meet-and-greet and take the first step towards a lifetime of happiness with your new furry friend! The Dog House Rescue: where good dogs go from lost to loved. [email protected] call/text (775) 450-0687 Our Adoption Process 1. Begins with a simple emailed application to help us understand your needs and what you would like in your furry friend. 2. Next, we invite you to send us a virtual walk through of your home including where the dog will sleep, exercise, and stay when you are away. 3. We move forward with a meet and greet! Personal chemistry is important and both the adopter and pup need to be feelin’ it. If so we will make an appointment for drop off. 4. We deliver your new family member to your home where we all sign the adoption contract and you present proof of paid enrollment in a puppy kindergarten. If you need help finding a puppy kindergarten please ask us for recommendations!
