Advocates 4 Animals Pet Food Pantry

Our organization is a pet food pantry who assists those in the community feed their pets and prevent them from being dumped at a shelter or having to get rid of them due to financial hardships. In addition, we take in pregnant moms and babies who have been dumped and care for them from birth through adoption. I do the things I do, to give back to those in the community needing assistance. The fostering I do because I love watching the moms and puppies grow up healthy and happy.

Meet Oscar

Oscar has had many homes in his short three years which has left this very sensitive Dane with an abandonment complex and a desire to be with his humans at all times. He bonds strongly and needs a human who has the time and experience to spend helping this big boy learn his new place in the family and personal space boundaries. Oscar is house trained and excellent at finding you anywhere in the house to let you know he needs to go out. He eats well in a group setting, and gets along with many dogs though has been dominant around the resident male LGD, which indicates a home with female dogs/smaller or non dominant males would be the best fit for him. He has not been destructive at all in his foster home, except for excessive scratching at doors when he is left alone or locked inside, though he does calm down and settle after a while. His favorite activities include climbing into your lap (even if he weighs as much as you), running and playing with any dog brave enough to rough house with his smiley face, and lounging on a soft spot or in the sun… He ignores the cats and farm animals for the most part but his instinct to chase and play with anything that runs from him does give the sheep and goats a bit of a fright so he is kept separate from their fields. He has been healing from happy tail (the boy is not suitable to be crated due to his crate trauma) and gaining weight at his foster home where he is finally able to run off leash and be a dog. If you are interested in meeting or learning more about this sweet boy, please fill out an application. He is looking for his forever home where he won’t be too much dog for the wrong person. Oscar’s adoption fee is $250.00 which includes all shots, spay, microchip and 1 month of heartworm preventative. If you are interested, please complete the Adoption Application on our website at a4apetpantry.org Disclaimer: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of our dogs, we are only guessing at breed mix.

Adoption Process
Applications are submitted online, vet and personal reference checks. Meet and greet are scheduled with the potential adopter, if all goes as planned a home visit is performed and a trail adoption period of seven days is provided for both dog and family to ensure its a match. The adoption fees are $300 for a puppy that includes all three rounds of puppy shots, spay/neuter, mirchochip, rabies and three months of heartworm preventative. For adults over 2-years the adoption fee is $250 and includes all shots, rabies, microchip, spay/neuter and 3-months heartworm preventative.
