Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets

Who We Are:A group of volunteers in Jackson County, MS dedicated to the mission of saving animal’s lives at the Jackson County Animal Shelter. We are a 501c3 Non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Mississippi. Mission Statement:• To assist Jackson County Animal Shelter with funds, food, supplies, shelter improvements, fostering and volunteerism.• To assist Jackson County Animal Shelter in securing good, reliable adoptive families for animals through social networking, transport to other states and local adoption events. • To educate the public on the importance of spay and neuter laws, animal protection laws and pet owner responsibility. How You Can Help:We always need responsible foster families; we cannot pull animals from the local shelter unless we have safe, reliable foster homes for them to go to for training, medications, spay and neuter hold and quarantine for transports. We work in conjunction with local and out of state Rescue organizations to save as many animals as possible through this fostering, adoption and transport program.Financially, we need funds for supplies, vet care and medicines, shelter pull fees and subsidizing transports to other states. Future projects include possible upgrades to the shelter to help reduce the spread of disease, increase animal capacity and thereby reduce euthanasia rates. We are also working on how to implement and fund low cost spay and neuter programs, micro-chipping, an adoption sponsorship fund and other life saving ideas. Meet Reese

Looking for your next cuddle buddy? Well look no further than Reese! She has come so far from where she started and it’s her turn to thrive and be the best dog she can be! Reese is a 50 pound 1.5 year old lab mix that is a little timid at first due to her being in the shelter most of her short life which has led her to be unsure of her surroundings. Once she learns she can trust you, she opens up and her fun loving, happy little personality shines through! She opens her eyes each morning so excited and grateful to see your face again! She begins her day with nudges to wake you up and lots of kisses to show just how much she missed you through the night! Reese is potty trained, kennel trained, and knows all of the basic commands…sit, stay, lay, shake, etc… She’s a quick learner and is very easily motivated by treats! Reese loves to go on daily walks and will sit patiently and wait for you to put her leash on and give her the command to walk out of the front door! She loves playing with other dogs, big and small, and is curious about cats but keeps her distance. Reese loves to end her days snuggled in the bed with her favorite people while literally laying on top of you! She can’t seem to get close enough to show you just how much she loves you! Due to Reese’s scary start in the shelter, she would do best in a very patient, calm home preferably without children but would benefit from having another dog in the family!       Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. All pets are in a home environment cared for by a foster person who provides temporary care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. Friends of Jackson County is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. If interested in meeting this baby, you can find an online adoption application at     https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/       Adoption fees covers spay/neuter, vaccinations, wormers and preventatives and range from $125-$150. All of our animals have been heart worm tested and are on monthly preventions. You can help save a life by fostering an animal from FJCASP. If interested in fostering you can find an online foster application at    https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/foster-application    If you would like to donate to help us help the foster parents with food, medications and preventatives you can paypal us at [email protected] or you can donate supplies at the LaundroMutt in Ocean Springs! FJCASP is a 501(c)3, nonprofit and all of your donations are tax deductible!!
