Somebody to the Rescue

Somebody to the Rescue is a grassroots dog rescue based in rural Mississippi, founded by someone who saw far too many dogs abandoned, mistreated, and ignored—because everyone assumed “somebody else” would help. We became that Somebody. We take in stray, neglected, dumped, and medically at-risk dogs, provide vet care, rehabilitation, and a safe place to land. Once healthy and ready, our dogs are matched with loving adopters or partner rescues, often transported north to find their forever homes. We are foster-based, volunteer-run, and fueled by compassion, grit, and a refusal to look the other way. Our mission is simple: step in when no one else will—and give every dog a chance to be Somebody’s dog.

Meet Bobby – A Survivor with a Heart of Gold!

Bobby is a handsome 2-year-old (as of August 2024) Labrador mix with a heart full of love and a spirit that will inspire you. This special boy has overcome incredible odds and is now ready to find his forever home! Bobby’s journey hasn’t been easy. Before his first birthday, Bobby was hit by a truck and left with a broken pelvis on both sides, a deep leg laceration requiring 8 staples, and countless bumps and bruises. But Bobby wasn’t alone—his devoted sibling, Albert, led us to where Bobby had dragged his injured body into the woods, ready to give up. We scooped him up and rushed him to the vet. After weeks of love and care during his recovery, Bobby made a miraculous comeback. Today, you’d never guess what he endured—he runs, jumps, and plays without even a hint of a limp! Bobby’s Perfect Home: Bobby is a sweet, affectionate, and playful boy who loves cuddles, playtime, and just being with his people. He’s crate-trained and happily sleeps in his crate. He gets along well with other dogs and even cats. However, Bobby does like to jump up when he’s excited, so a home without small children or fragile seniors would be best. Bobby has always been with his siblings (there are four in total, including him) and can be adopted with one of them or on his own. What matters most is that his new family is loving, kind, and playful—he’ll thrive in a home where he feels safe and adored. What Bobby Needs: A loving and active family or individual who will shower him with attention. Someone willing to continue his training and provide outlets for his energy. A home that understands the incredible bond he’ll form with his forever person. Bobby’s resilience and gentle spirit are truly remarkable. If you’re ready to welcome a loyal companion who will bring joy and inspiration to your life, Bobby is your boy! Up to Date on Care: Bobby is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and has tested negative for heartworm. Are you the loving, playful forever family Bobby deserves? Fill out an application today and let this sweet survivor bring endless love to your home!

Our adoption process includes: * Completion of an adoption application * Phone interview and vet reference check * Virtual or in-person home visit (when possible) * Signed adoption contract with a return agreement * Payment of adoption fee: * \$350 for puppies * \$300 for adult dogs * \$200 for seniors * Transport fee may apply for out-of-state adoptions All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested (and treated if needed), and dewormed prior to adoption.
