Meet Boots

Boots is a big tall boy but very thin. He knows commands of sit, stay, come, and no  Boots copies the majority of brother Bubba actions and seems to follow Bubba and his behaviors. Boots does not tell foster mom when he needs to go outside but when outside  he is all business to do his business. No accidents in the house.   Boots and foster mom are working on leash walking and how to stay with foster mom on the left side and follows moms pace. Boots is more concerned with surroundings and loses focus. Boots does not get the what the deal is with dog toys and has no interest.  Boots sleeps on a dog bed  next to foster mom with brother Bubba. . He goes outside at 11:00 then to bed and decides he better get up at 8:30.  Boots is always near by and helpful  in cooking, cleaning, laundry and other household chores. He enjoys hugs and kisses and seems content and satisfied to lay and sleep on the couch while foster mom  watches  morning  TV shows. Boots  leaves all household stuff alone. Boots and brother Bubba will play, run and growl at each other to release energy in the fenced yard. Foster mom has not seen behaviors of flight and will come when called.  Boots is  great company and a true companion. He is accepting of the kennel and walks in without a push.  The  only negative behavior is he is not accepting of cats and does not enjoy their company.  Hopefully with time he will come to accept cats and not feel the need to terrorize and chase.    

Adoption Process
All potential adopters must complete an adoption application which includes veterinary records for any current or past pets; adopters go through an interview process and a home visit. Once those steps are approved, the potential adopter can meet available dogs that fit the criteria and are a good match between family, home, and dog. An adoption contract is signed with the stipulation that RCBR can do a follow up visit and remove the dog from the home if any part of the contract is breached. Dogs can only be adopted once spay/neuter or other medical conditions requiring treatment are completed. An additional training contract is signed for any dog needing further training. If the adoptive family cannot keep the dog for the long term, the dog must be returned to RCBR. RCBR must be notified if family is planning to euthanize dog due to illness and/or old age or unknown behavior issues and can then elect to take back the dog.
